What is Propulsione Umana

Propulsione Umana – Human Powered Vehicles is a no-profit association intending to introduce the world of HPVs in Italy.

It is affiliated to the World Human Powered Vehicle Association, an organization leading a planetary renaissance since the 70ies.

The goal of Propulsione Umana is to foster the use of human power, and stimulate and support improvement, innovation and creativity in all its practical applications, especially focusing on the
design and development of vehicles.

Why Propulsione Umana

Freedom & creativity in optimizing the use of power produced by the most efficient existing thermo-dynamic machine: the human body.
The negative effects of all kinds of waste in our societies are outstanding.
Gathering common-sense, bright, creative people who want to use human power at its best and set aside preconceived notions and widespread misinformation.
No going back in history, but retrieving past creativity and technology, and using present day technology to build more efficient and more comfortable devices.

What are Human Powered Vehicles

first of all, the bicycle, especially focusing on its history and all its possible developments, with the recumbent bicycle at the forefront.
but also, all means of transport that use human power, both alone and in combination with other kinds of propulsion. With two main purposes: building faster vehicles and building more practical vehicles for daily mobility.
but also, all human powered devices:
there are pedal-powered washing machines, pedal tricycles for carrying and purifying water at the same time, crank-dynamo radio sets or flashlights… a playstation working only if the player powers it by pedalling!
